Amaryllis by any other name would be wrong

And that's that.
A little amaryllis (how I love that word) for Anne's bunch at
and a touch of visibility for the bunch at
Patti's Visible Monday at
Not Dead Yet Style.
I'm short on words at the moment;
they are all flying in other directions.
No need to comment - I'm not giving you much
to work with this week. heh.

thrifted: linen coat, tux pants, spiderwebby tie-dye-ish pullover, D&G shoes, belt
retail Harlequin patterned colourful socks
This type is impossibly small.

Snow drift redux

Wearing:
  • thrifted off-white midi faux fur vest or jerkin gilet (thanks!)
  • sweater, discount retail
  • thrifted pants
  • thrifted DIY-scribble boots
  • untucked vintage dickie
  • thrifted dangly earrings
  • gifted upcycled fuchsia cashmere arm-warmers with added love power (peeking out from the cuff)
  • magic loupe
  • two long-sleeved T's as under-layers

I lopped more than six inches off the circumference of the vest and serged the seams. What I triumph I felt having conquered my fear of farking with lining and faux fur which I was sure would gag my Machine. In fact, I was so pleased with the result that I wore the vest yesterday and today. I've worn the vest a few times in its "pre" state but had to overlap the front and belt it, making me feel and look like a snow drift.

And while I love wearing oversized sweaters, I simply cannot abide oversized neck openings - such hideousness is unendurable - so I took the severe corrective measure of serging little darts all around the collar (see middle photo). The sweater was purchased specifically for destruction and this is a stellar first step.

My pants might be a 2002 Pantone True Red so I'm linking this up to Anne's 52 Pick-me-up: Pantone Party 2015 at Spy Girl. And of course, I'm a fortnightly style binger over at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style Visible Monday

Freakish Yellow Skirt Update!!...and more

a Curious YELLOW bELL blOOms in
   the garden,
a top pick of the freakish show
             where chickens peck with
                 spots and stripes
and flower shower of skirtly delight
                              whispers true with sounds of
                                      sue SUE sue

                                              Sue of
                                       You Can Call Me Sue

                                                         GO! GO NOW!!
Last chance...

Look what Sue grows in her garden! She has done a stupendous styling of the FYS on its last stop of the global Travelling Yellow Skirt Freak Show. You must go and have a look. There is also a photo of the fantastic addition she made to the skirt - absolutely perfect. Thank you so much, Sue!

And in other news...
My thrifted floral Versace pants with happy landings of assorted other fabrics and a dusting of thrifted lucky-charm beaded bag and a magic loupe. Platform runners for colour-blast shock absorption of course. How easy it is to forget we're only human when we're full-on vibracized. Sproingy doink sproingy doink. Walking down the sidewalk was like trying out a big new children's toy. AS LIFE SHOULD BE on a good day. That's my spooky rebel girl followed by my warped self.

And I sewed! HURRAH! That 'ole familiar duet with the Machine, chuh-chuh-chuh-chuh, feck, chuh-chuh-chuh-chuh, fart balls, chuh-chuh-chuh-chuh... In fact, most of my time is spent PREPARING the fabric, but when I hit that show tune at last, it's a freaking Broadway musical. (Okay, so I took in some pants, but it felt like I made a hand-tailored Chanel suit.)

Hat Attack, Mega Blogger Meetup, Turnip Head

HAT ATTACK 18, graciously hosted by Judith at Style Crone. My humble submission: the red beret.
The bulb is out, not the one in my head, the one on the ceiling in my concrete-box-of-a-photo studio, which made for some interesting shots today. My head bulb is flickering as well from power surges which creates a rather distinctive disco ball luminescence.

Everything I am wearing is thrifted, from the Steve Madden army boots to the red wool beret. And look, there's my fake smile up there! [Edit: I have just joined Sacramento's fabulous Share-in-Style: Masculine Look at Mis Papelicos. I figured the army boots would fit. See you there!]
Yesterday I saw the Advanced Style documentary by Lina Plioplyte and Ari Cohen when I scored one of the last tickets of a sold-out screening. The audience, mainly women over 50, clapped enthusiastically at the end of the movie, then, after casting more than a few side-eyes at my highly suspicious attire, trundled home in their winter parkas and jeans. I loved the movie but the lobby ambiance was a shock.

Shelley of Forest City Fashionista wore the Turnip Head in her recent post HERE. The Vegetable was thrilled to be part of such a stupendous outfit.

And...
...this Turnip Head on a Banksy image was in fact the first email submission I received on the Turnip Head Tour, sent from my friend TT, whom you may remember from his provocative comment which sparked the Travelling Yellow Skirt Freak Show. I didn't put this image up until now because I didn't realize Banksy artwork was copyright-free.

And MEGA BLOGGER MEETUP!
Yes, it's true. This summer in Vancouver, July 24~26. Suzanne of Suzanne Carillo: Style, Smiles and Stories, made this awesome poster. Go to her page HERE and read more about it, and make sure you grab a sidebar image too. We hatched the plan during the meetup with Sue of A Colourful Canvas: Stitch, Style, Smile. I know that you will bring more style to Vancouver than this city has EVER seen, than CANADA has ever seen. More details will be available as the date nears. Suzanne is our Official Liaison Executive.
Whew. That's all. Greetings to everyone! Life resumes to normal or what passes as normal for most of us. Let's get on with it, shall we?
