Catwoman. And VOGOFF returns!!

Oh yes, I've got my happy dog head stuck out the pickup truck window while I boot down the highway, tongue flapping, spit flying, tail wagging. But you know what happens, right? Bugs. Lots of them, stuck to your tongue. Eat 'em or spit 'em out - does it matter? The point is, they're there. It also means bad hair. And the risk of road rage from the poor sods drenched in drool behind you. Tailgaters for real! Actually, I'm wearing a CAT HEAD, not a dog head.

Stink, stank, stunk! Back in the alley. Mind where you put your feet. No bugs on this tongue though. If she gives me any lip, I just zip it. That's my Route 66 jacket which I asymmetrized* with a diagonal zipper.

So what am I saying? Bliss is fleeting and it requires attention on the right things, kind of like that line in the Bill Cunningham documentary (NY street style photographer): If you look for beauty you will find it.

It also involves taking a risk. If I focused on the bugs and bad hair and road rage, I'd never put my head out the window in the first place. The gamble that the open road will mask the taste of a fly or two makes me brave.

I bought this T-shirt at a Value Village shopping spree with Sandra of Standard Deviations (IG here) a couple of years ago. I just hauled it out of a space bag.

In celebration of the bliss in our midst, I'm doing another issue of the online magazine -

VOGOFF
Pissed Off Towards Ecstasy or
So Joyful It Frickin' Hurts

I could have done just the ecstasy/no-hurting part, but talk about boring. Eating and drinking and sex and sleeping, who wants to see that!? Heh. Besides, it doesn't exist in a sustainable form. And you'd get bored of it (yeah, you would!, stop arguing, Suzanne). And there'd be the indigestion, maybe a couple STDs, sleep disorders, and possible bankruptcy. And then lawyers. Well, and then you'd start looking for bliss in a bottle or thermos or 7-Eleven.

V O G O F F

The way I see it, life is a giant come here, come here, come here, get away, get away, get away, not a one-side-takes-all proposition. And usually, for me, my best work springs from a place of discontent or restlessness or just plain piss-offedness. The transformation from crap to rapture is powerful. Henceforth, I shall call it crapture. (Didn't Deborah Harry sing a song with that title? - I may have just ruined that song for you forever! Heh.)

Oh look, it's Batman and Cat Woman!! White, super-soft brushed cotton chinos, Tommy Hilfiger, thrifted $5, hip-slung, three sizes too big, not quite falling off, dreamy.

In blogging, I've gone through a spell of getting pissed off but I'm not sure at what. The homogeneity? The pressure to be extraordinary? To be special? To make money? Pfft. Maybe I'm tired of other people's drool on my own windows, not put there by bliss but carefully constructed illusions of bliss. Oh no!! It's FAKE SPIT!! That's where I draw the line! When you come here, believe you me, you only get the good stuff, the genuine spit.

So you want to VOGOFF with me this time? I'll post details about what to do later. Think about it, will ya's? The previous issues have had tens of thousands of viewers, truth. Not bad, right, for a bunch of non-conformicators*?

To see past issues, go HERE.

I'm linking this cool cat head up with Patti at Not Dead Yet Style and her weekly Visible Monday, and also Catherine at her weekly linkup #iwillwearwhatilike at Not Dressed as Lamb. See you there!

Mini Glossary
*non-conformicators: made-up word, noun, compound of non-conformist and fornicator
*asymmetrized: made-up word, verb, to make something asymmetrical
*overall meaning of this post: there's nothing to help you there. Heh.

    1. You said it: comfy, REALLY comfy, but with 'tude because the pants are almost falling down. And I forgot about this shirt until I went into my space bags. Hahaha. Thanks for your great energy once again!

  2. A tee that sticks out its tongue at the world??? Why didn't I think of that? Oh yeah because my life revolves around drinking, sex and sleeping! Nailed it! Literally.

Your choice location for the shoot is amazing although it does make me want to get out a bottle of Purell and shower in it.

So joyful it hurts! Man oh man. This could go so many ways. LOL. The gauntlet has been thrown, spittle and all. I just need to learn to throw my fear aside and stick my head out the window now.

    bisous

    1. Hahaha!
About the Purell, I bring a spray bottle of alcohol, especially since I go out for coffee after my shoot.
And yes, the gauntlet has been thrown. Let's see what you can do if you can tear yourself away from all that hammering. Referring to carpentry of course. Can't wait.

  3. Oh that tee. Thank you for letting it free. And a new VOGOFF, there is nothing, nothing better, except my second coffee. Now let's make a pissed-off, unladylike revolution against following the rules. Heads out the windows, women!! xox

    1. Goofy. Heh. So THAT's how we "met." Curtise was a star in past issues. Will you join this time too? No pressure. NO PRESSURE!!!!

  8. OMG I can see what all the excitement is now - just had a click through the previous VOGOFF! Bring it on Melanie. Love those trousers on you. A similar version on me would only make me look huge and huggery, not waif like and cool like you baby. Will stop slobbering now.

    1. Somehow I don't believe similar trousers on you would make you look huge and huggery. Heh. These pants are super soft and remind me of sitting dockside in the Hamptons. Pfft. VOGOFF is just fun, a great place to push boundaries. You are always more than welcome to join! Thanks for your comment, Anna!

  9. Amazing t shirt and fabulous jacket - you look cool and interesting...

Yes please to VOGOFF but no thanks to dog slobber! I'd never thought about dogs getting bugs on their tongues and now I'll look at every dog windflapping * in a different way. xxxx

    * wndflapping - the act of dogs sticking their heads out of moving open vehicle windows and letting their ears and tongues flap in the wind.

    Have a great week!

    Veronica

    1. Hahaha, I shall use the word windflapping in the future if you do not object. There's something about those dog faces in open windows that screams freedom and joy. I hope you have a great week too, Veronica. Thanks for visiting! And the word!

  10. Your location scout really nailed it! That's the perfect background for that outfit, which, by the way, is the dog's bollocks (I think that's a compliment in British slang). The shirt is so cool, sticking your tongue out to fit your piss-offedness. Looks like you can just zip the tongue away when you're pleased and being scratched behind your ears, huh?

Another VOGOFF - yay! I love to see the collaborative coordination of your contributors in this creative convention!

    1. Ooooh, that's weird that you mentioned location scout because I chatted with one when I was setting up in the alley this time. All kinds of people go by. I love a good ear scratch. Heh. Can you join this one, Val? You were stellar last time but I know you're busy... Hugs.

  14. Ooooh Vogoff!

Could Pissed Off Towards Ecstasy be

... living in the face of continual side-eye and doing your thang anyway
... resting bitch-face on the outside and happy, happy joy-face on the inside just for yourself
... flicking vees at the photographer and hoping for a photogenic outcome
... wearing a polyester uniform - but also fancy silk underpinnings?

  16. EMBRACE the pissedoffness! I am! I can tell from every memory post Facebook presents me that I am an Old Lady Ranter, always pissed off with things, but then I forget as I have short term memory, and then something else pisses me off. Not much brooding so it's not a bad system. But the PON is seriously energising and so I am trying to embrace it not to be nicer, because I am sure it is a gift from nature in exchange for reproductive ability. "Here lady, I'm taking away your periods and giving you Menopause and a whole buncha cranky". How could Gaia be wrong? This Vogoff, I'm in. Tell me more xo

    1. Hahaha, I'm so glad you're IN. I'll post details about what to do in a while; the deadline won't be for a while. You seem to have a firm grasp of what's involved. PON, yes, very invigorating. I'm usually never really, truly PON (thanks for that acroynm by the way) but pinches do provoke a response.
Lovely to see you, as always!

  17. That teeshirt is a friggin' legend. Next time I see a bloke with the pockets sticking out of his trousers (seems a common occurrence with the pissed up pensioners in Wetherspoons) I might sidle up beside him and stick a couple of those googly eyes on his hip - it'll amuse me if nothing else.
Apparently we're more aggressive at our advanced age as our oestrogen levels decline and testosterone increases. I'm ready to people most days. xxx

  18. the Odalisque will definitely submit to vogoff. she's over being an art object, and has sequestered herself in a tower where she dresses up birds and regularly changes he head: https://conversewithbirds.org/2012/04/29/fashion/ She dates to the renaissance, so is definitly meets the age requirement. I would also submit but I might just be pretending to be you. Hmmm.

  21. That t-shirt is a treasure. Pressure to be extraordinary? Yes! Though I have finally come to full knowledge the my only extraordinary is how ordinary I am. Not that I'm complaining. Anymore. Whatever, stick to the positive. Better "frickin" than "pissed", unless by "pissed" you mean drunk.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hahaha, yes, I enjoy a "frickin" way more than "pissed." I don't like how I feel after I get "pissed," as in drinking. The "pissed-off" hangover with a pastel in my hand is much more satisfying, although I am seldom seriously "pissed-off." Just enough to keep me on my toes. I'm glad you have found peace with yourself. Social media makes friendships like a contest - that's wrong on so many levels. Thanks for your comment, Connie. Makes me think.

  23. Love the T-shirt haha, such fun!! Wouldn't mind one myself. The jacket looks good with it. Trousers are not my style because, when I was a child I was pretty tall for my generation. So usually my trousers were just a little bit too short. That gives you a chip on your shoulder for short trousers haha.
A new release of VOGOFF is a very happy announcement. I just don't think I can participate. I cannot think out of the box like you lot do, I am not an artist. Fortunately you love me anyway hahaha.
