My Seinfeld life, the highs and lows

As I stepped off the curb at the light downtown, something shiny on the ground caught my eye. It was a big slimy slug. OHMYGOD, that poor slug is going to roast in the sun. I continued walking. I thought, I should have brought my little water spritzer, I could refresh him. But maybe that would accelerate his dessication. How horrible!

Or maybe I could assist him (obviously male) into the sewer drain half a foot away. But, geez, who knows what's in there. That could kill him! Plus, I have no tissues to carry him anywhere. How did he end up so far from his leafy soil home? Maybe someone will step on him! Usually my heart is not so soft towards invertebrates, but this little guy was so sad.

By this time I had been swept across the street in a throng of pedestrians and, let's not kid ourselves, I knew I would do nothing. I felt a bit bad and continued on my way.

And then it happened. Weird sickening redemption - what if it wasn't a slug?! [caution for next bit] Maybe I was feeling bad for not spritzing and refreshing and transporting a loogie?! Or worse! GAAAA!! I think I guffawed and choked at the same time. For real. It was only a glimpse after all. Of course I had to go back for confirmation. Hahaha. No way. (I just wrote that to see how screwed up you think I am.)

Then, when I got a block from home I saw a white-haired man stuck in the driver's seat of his shiny red Lamborghini. The uniformed valet from the swanky restaurant across the street, where the driver was probably headed for lunch, was bent over him, tugging to get him out. I thought, wow, there are worse fates than being stuck your Lamborghini. Even if I had it, my water spritzer wouldn't help this case. I hoped the valet got a good tip.

So that's the high and low of things from here. It's an exciting Seinfeld-esque life.

This new pink flamingo top is organic, so organic I could probably eat it, the danger there being I'd end up naked on top and run the risk of developing a taste for fine fabrics. Heh.

I got lots of positive attention when I was wearing this. I'm not sure if it was for the top alone or for how the top made me feel that brought it on. Probably a bit of both. Thanks, Greetje, No Fear of Fashion, for this linen flamingo top, which was designed and made by her niece who does this sort of thing for a living at Päälä. This shirt has positive vibes aplenty. By the way, this is unpaid, non-sponsored praise.

The pants are by Free People, bought at a big sale at a consignment shop. Elastic waist - we all know what that means: Bring on the buffet!! They are magnificently flared and wave like a queen. The thrifted jacket may be vintage, I can't really tell. Maybe not. But I still like it and it's getting a lot of wear lately.

I'll post the VOGOFF details in the coming days.
Soon it's the weekend. Hm, I'm not sure why that makes me happy - it has no impact on my daily schedule anymore. I guess it's just tradition to love it. Have you got any traditions like that?

  1. Love the Päälä print and hoo-bloody-ray for scoop necklines - I hates the crew neck business.
The speckled trousers are just forever - is the print made up of little hearts?

As to Lamborghini man - I believe the correct form is to provide a red carpet or rare oriental rug so that he can roll out of the car onto the floor, before being brought to his feet by the valet. In finishing school* we were taught to do this with lady-like knees clamped together so as not to reveal any underpinnings. And ALWAYS wearing white gloves. (Points deducted for losing your hat).

You look fabulous as always - the turned up collar is FAB.

    Sincerely

    Elaine Monkeypaints

    1. No, no hearts on my legs, but I almost had a couple on my sleeves this time. Heh. I know- what was this guy thinking? Carpet FIRST! Then roll. Sheesh. I'm glad you went to a proper finishing school. Hahaha.
Thanks, Elaine, for the laugh! Always fun when you visit.

  2. I constantly visually comb the streets for odds and ends. I find a lot of money, cashola, shockingly, as well as jewelry and other grosser unmentionables. I once found a $20 bill. No slugs, though - especially not downtown.

I love the flappy trousers, the flamingo top and the yummy creamy jacket. We have similar colour palettes (mine from yesterday). Great minds think alike...fools seldom differ (no one ever quotes that last part, I wonder why??).

    2. I found a 20 at the super market not that long ago. Heh. I wondered how the slug(?) got so far from his home. Was he hitching a ride on someone/thing? That's also an unsettling thought.
I did wear such similar things. Heh.

I didn't know the end of that quote either. Hahaha!!! Good one. Thanks, Sheila.

  4. beautiful look!!!!
that flamingo shirt is gorgeous - the print is pur art! and i would kill for that jacket - but they never come in my valkyrie-size - only teeny-tiny asian cut.....
in my garden i use to kill the slugs - if not they would eat everything from flowers to veggies and herbs. 2 years ago we had a slug pest here - it was horrible sometimes to step out of the house in the morning, bare feet.
but the snails get much love - i collect them from the lawn before mowing und from the paths too - one evening the husband came on feet - he left the car at the street because our way from there (ca. 400m) was decked with vineyard snails.
looking forward to the next post about vogoff - could´t say anything with sense on your last post because my english failed......
    much love! xxxxx

    1. I seldom find such delicate soft things in the thrift shops which are not damaged, so this shirt was a treat to wear.
You are so kind moving the snails - they are lucky they chose your garden as their favourite place!!
Don't feel bad about understanding my English because many English-speakers don't understand my English either. Hahaha.
I'm happy you dropped by, Beate. Thank you for commenting!

  5. That flamingo top is SWEET!!!

Your story made me laugh, as they often do. That is the thing about living in the downtown, so many unusual details to fill your day. When you live in the burbs like me it is just stories of little bunnies. I had a staring contest with a bunny on my lawn this morning. He won. Then he told me he was going straight to my back yard to poop like a machine so my pug could have a feeding frenzy. Cheeky furball. I don't know what makes bunny poop taste like 5 star gourmet food to a pug. Probably the attitude.

    2. How can the 'burbs be boring when you get such gripping poo tales?!! Hahaha!!! Your yard is a giant buffet. Zoe needs to wear elastic waist pants. Too bad you can't train someone/thing to eat Zoe's poo. Laughing out loud, Suzanne!

  6. This post was a wonderfully entertaining way to start my Friday. You have a very kind heart towards slugs, as I probably wouldn't have given the little slimy thing a second thought! I do often notice things when I'm walking that other people don't, like giant ant parties on the sidewalk, etc. I like Tralala's idea of just rolling the guy out of the Lamborghini onto the sidewalk. I think if you can't get out of your fancy car unassisted, you shouldn't be allowed to have one.

I hate crew necks on t-shirts, so I quite like the organic flamingo one you got from Greetje. I'm also quite enamored with your jacket - good thing it will never fit me.

    1. I agree on the guy not being allowed to have such a car. He thinks he is King but this way he is quite the opposite.

    2. I'm not sure what caused the man to be lodged behind his wheel. I couldn't see what the impediment was. Size or a seat beat malfunction? He just looked rather silly try to be a babe magnet and then not being able to roll out of car on carpet like you're supposed to. Heh. You are right, Greetje.

To call this top a T-shirt I suppose is too crude. It is ABOVE a T-shirt, so soft and delicate. Quite a piece.
      Thanks, Shelley.

  7. Don't know why, but being stuck in a lambo-whatsit is very funny. I can see the same thing happening to me with a Mini Cooper. Keep walking past those "slugs"

    1. Yes, it was odd seeing that man stuck in there and the valet sweating over him. I shall keep on walking by. Thanks for visiting!

  8. Oh, that's a shame, as Jerry would say. Poor lil' booger left on the street. You are so funny. This outfit is like butter! The beautiful creamy Chinese jacket with the silky pants and the sweet tee. I would eat the whole thing. A taste for fine fabric. Ha ha. You should have your own tv show.

    1. Don't eat the slug. I've had escargot though. Gaaa.
      This outfit was rather divine-feeling.

      Thanks for hanging out. Mwah.

  9. I find it hard to feel anything for slugs, I'm afraid. They're revolting but I might have wanted to rescue it knowing it might fry in the sun...

Love the flamingos, flappy pants and Chinese style top. You can't beat an elasticated waist with or without the buffet!

    Have a great weekend!

    1. When I made that fortunate or unfortunate connection between the slug and the loogie, I had less compassion and could walk with a lighter heart.
Elastic waists rule!!! We know the good stuff when we see it and wear it.
Thanks, Veronica. Hope you had a great weekend. I'm a bit slow responding to everyone here...

  10. We tease my daughter that Sluggo, the big fat slug that greets us each morning on the side porch, is her brother. She is not amused.

A thing I still celebrate, even though it has long ceased to mean anything, is the anniversary of the day I lost my virginity. Sometime during that day, I will stop whatever I am doing, lift a glass (usually of water, but sometimes of beer) and silently salute the young man with whom I briefly shared bodies, so many many years ago. Several of my girlfriends used to join me in the ritual. They couldn't remember their own date, so they glommed onto mine.

Like Greetje, your anniversary cracks me up! That's a GOOD one. If you don't mind I think everyone would like to celebrate their Lost Virginity Day (LVD) on your special day.

Thanks for your great comment and the birth of this new international holiday. Mwah!

  11. mwahaha, you always amaze me and make me smile too!, and now I'm pursued by the image of that man stuck into his lamborghini (I think it was his lamborghini, even if the story would be more interesting if it was Not his car)
Your outfit rocks!, love your flamingos top and your pretty jacket!, and those fabulously flared pants, with an elastic waist!! (oh yes, bring on the buffet), and they wave like a queen!! love them!

    1. I just ASSUMED that was the owner in the car. Too funny!! Maybe the valet was trying to TRAP him in the car until the police arrive - or the owner, even worse. Hahaha!!!

I know that you know how it feels to wear an outfit that waves like a queen. This was one of them. Isn't it great that we get to dress however we like?!!!

Thanks for visiting. Hugs to you.

  14. So it's official then? Elasticated pants are uber cool, uber chic - hurrah! They're not like your nan's pants though, these are wafty, willowy and a bit on the trendy side if you ask me. Love that Flamingo jacket too. I would have liked to see that scene with the valet pulling that guy out of the Lamborghini - I do hope you suppressed a chuckle until you got round the corner x

    1. Wafty, willowy, that's exactly how these pants feel, and the top too. I spied the pants at the consignment shop and waited and waited for them to go on sale. Thankfully they were still there. Whew.

I did wait until the corner to chuckle. As I walked by I'm sure my face was screwed up with wonder and puzzlement.

Lovely to see you, Anna. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. It was a very, very busy downtown intersection. How did the slug(?) get there? As for loogies(gaaa! gross) it seems to be a popular thing to do these days. We need spittoons again.

Seeing the man in his car was like a weird movie scene. It was a strange day.

I hope you had a great weekend! Thanks for your comment of course.

  20. I was going to say that if it's polyester, it's not vintage, but then I realized that polyester IS indeed vintage, which means I'M vintage because I can remember a world without polyester. And yearn for it. So, you think YOU'RE screwed up??!!
