Faux fur dress and leather pants

PEACE FOR ALL OF US!!! YAY!!! That's the grand hope, the dream.

You may note that I have boosted my font. I was so tired of that weeny eeny font. What was I thinking?! Of course that original font setting happened six years ago when I thought reading glasses were an option, not a requirement. Hahaha!!

I frickin' love this outfit. The dress is courtesy of my friend Shelley, Forest City Fashionista, who has graced this blog many a time for her style, humour, intelligence, and friendship. The dress is faux fur, grey, with a lightning-bolt-type overlay on the front. I call it my Flintstones meets David Bowie meets Lost in Space Dress.

The groovy tights love this shift dress. I hoisted the hem a bit to show you a little psychedelic leg action. Heh. The boots, also groovalicious, I got at Value Village a little while ago, stretch leather, made in Italy, new condition. The earrings are from a great haul I had a couple of years ago at My Sister's Closet eco thrift boutique, proceeds to the Battered Women's Shelter Services.

And next - ta dah!! This is the director's edit of my new video, slightly longer than the IG version.

My new video!

This was a fun challenge to film with a tripod - just one indoor take and two outside. I didn't have time to fark around because people were walking up and down the sidewalks.

When I was trying to get up from the bench, a couple of concerned women nearby almost came over to give me a hand. I was impressed because it meant my acting was convincing - I can in fact move in these pants, kind of. Next time, I need a sign that says, "No, it's just tight leather pants. But thanks."

When I bought these pants they had little rips in the seams by the knees from a former owner who apparently also had navigational difficulties. I put clear tape over them. Fixed!! I'll get around to a proper repair sometime.

Above, the full outfit.

And look, I'm windsurfing! In the stairwell! Seriously, who wants the fuss of annoying wind, water, wetsuits, towels, know-how, and a windsurfing board? This is the only way to do sports.

One final shot with my Partridge Family Baggies, which I also wore last week, and my Jamin Puech bag. Every time I carry this bag I whip it around. I know I should be more reserved with it, seeing as how it's a high fashion brand and all, but who says high fashion can't be whipped about with joy too, right? A good whipping-about of one's clothes is testament to it's joy factor, I say.

That's all for this time. I'll link up with Patti's Visible Monday at Not Dead Yet Style and Catherine at Not Dressed as Lamb for #iwillwearwhatilike.

I raise a toast to everyone. May you feast and be merry. And whether you celebrate a specific holiday or not, the sales on unsold sweets will soon be upon us, and that's definitely something to celebrate. Hurray!

Thanks so much for visiting. Hugs all around.

  2. Smashing as always!

My fav is the second outfit. So rockstar-glam-goes-golfing.

    1. Hahaha - rockstar golfing. My cart will do wheelies and instead of clubs I'll carry wet noodles (those styrofoam things). The sidewalk video setups are always a challenge, which ups my adrenaline, which makes me able to do some of this stuff in the first place. Happy New Year now, Suzanne!!! xox

  3. Oh hey, that video is superb! Evoking Charlie Chaplin and with one camera - you are such a freaking schtar! And the leather pants are v. cool and sex-ay too. I would give you all my eggnog, and those holiday treats will be 50% off in two days, wheeeee. Love both these looks, stay uber-fabulous, xox.

    1. Sadly, eggnog won't be on sale until after New Years, and even then, it's such a pity that there's an expiry date. Maybe if I keep it long enough, the grocery store variety will ferment, eliminating the need for any other hard stuff. Hahaha!! Hugs, Patti. Let's raise a glass to fabulousness for us all!

  4. That video is hilarious. Having read your post before watching it, I almost expected those concerned women to appear out of nowhere to give you a hand ;-) Although I love both outfits, and I'm drooling over those funky tights and boots, my favourite is the second one. Partridge Family Baggies indeed (I had to chuckle when I read that), and that seriously frilly blouse and fab coat are perfect with it. Happy whatever you are or aren't celebrating! xxx

    1. The women were off to the side, but I could see them wondering whether to come over or not. I'm glad they didn't - it would have wrecked my shot. Hahaha!! I think I'm safe to say Happy New Year!!! to you. I hope you ring it in in style, as I'm sure you will. xo

  5. hehehe, that video is too good. There I was guffawing out loud, by myself, again. I thought I recognized a star trek thingy going on in your first ensemble. Star Trek, MC-5 Kick Out the Jams and a bit of Miss America. Maybe Nancy Sinatra's These Boots...Peace Out.

    1. The ladies were off to the side. They hesitated and the moved on. I guess they saw that I could stand up, kinda. I shut off my shame when I'm filming. I tell myself, Mel, this is work, you have a job to do and just do it! Hahaha. Happy New Year! xo

  9. Your efforts to move normally and with some panache in your "oh so vogue" leather pants was SO reminiscent of Charlie Chaplin!! I had such empathy as I cheered each of your failed but very sincere attempts. I'm sure those two women felt the same. Did the tape hold??? Love, Jude

    1. Amazingly, yes! The tape held, on each leg, at each knee. It was a Christmas miracle! Hahaha. The women moved on. Maybe they were afraid in the end. I was only 30% acting here, the rest was more of a documentary. Heh. Happy New Year, Jude. Big hugs. xox

  10. LOVE THE MOVIE! Sadly, that's how I ALWAYS look when trying to pick things up off the floor, leather pants or no. I have to practically do a split!

    Always love your spirit :-)

    1. Hahaha, Bettye. Yes. It happens. I thought I should get one of those grabber devices and bring it with me. And I really thought that if I threw the glove up with my foot I'd be able to catch it. Big fail. Happy New Year!! ox

  11. I salute your creativity and chutzpah for making that hysterical video all by yourself. I snorted out loud while watching it on the bus.

Ysy, love the styling of the furry dress - the tights are purrrfect. Those plaid baggies are the cat's meow though. Whew, how many cat metaphors can I get in one comment...

    1. Shelley, that furry dress is so wonderful. It has all the things: quirk, warmth, great cut, good length. xo. I'm all for cat metaphors. Haha.
Video are always tricky in public spaces but I shut off my shame valve and go for it. But I don't choose high-traffic areas usually, that's always hard. Happy New Year, Shelley!!! xox

  12. Oh gosh you had me laughing all the time when I was watching the video. Sooo funny. Loved the bit where you picked the glove up with your foot. In itself quite an achievement but then I thought: “were you not wearing tights? “ COLD!
Those trousers look stunning on you. What a figure.

    1. No tights!!! That day was definitely chilly so I was in a rush filming this and only did two takes. I'm glad I fit in everything I wanted, purely by chance. I really thought I'd be able to catch the glove with that toe toss. Hahaha!! Happy New Year, Greetje. xox

    1. Right? As I say, that's 70% documentary, 30% acting. The rips are testament that the previous owner had the same challenges. I'm so thankful for strong tape! Happy New Year!! xox
