Turnip head - in the desert and power surging

Time for the turnip head in a couple of sketches of what I've worn recently.

Above is how I felt in my thrifted bright floral pants, which I wore on June 18, photo below, and posted as  "Floral pants to summon summer." I used the title of the sketch as the title of the post.

In the next outfit of June 15 I was feeling oh-so-mellow and calm but I didn't take a photo that day. I was able to shut out the slamming of the city and clatter of the coffee shop and slip into this vast zone of warmth and tranquillity.

I wore the same dress on February 8, photo below, the post called "When you're smiling..." Hm, the same outfit for June and February? All I can say is it was still very chilly here. At least in June I didn't wear a T-shirt under the dress. Also, I am wearing dark brown tights with brown knit over-the-knee socks layered on top, and animal-print shoes instead of my red Dorothy shoes. No beret either in the June version.

(That painting in the background sold at my show. Here it's still in its infancy.)

I hope you have a good weekend, everyone! Thank you for all your wonderful comments. I appreciate them so much!

  3. Congratulations on your sale! You look smashing dancing there in front of it. You must have known is was going to sell.
I love that carnival top above. I say that because I'm too lazy to look up Cirgue du Soilel spelling. ;) There, I tried it anyway. When I first saw you post in it way back I searched high and low for something similar and even went on the company's web-site. Ho hum, no luck. Would be fun to paint clothes like that though, wouldn't it?

  8. Always a joy to see your drawings, love the creature pals who accompany you!
The floral trousers outfit was a particular favourite, I'm not surprised the cat was electrified by how fabulous you were! The pale pink dress is pretty, I wish I could find a way to wear pastel colours without looking washed out... Something to work on, perhaps! xxx

  10. Your drawing posts are among my faves; you're inspiring me to pick up my pens and pastels.

You are likely who I was thinking of when I took my Epic Fail Floral Pants to the tailor on Friday to be turned into skinny jeans :)

  13. Ooh I love your amazing illustrations - they are like perfect colourful little dreams. Whimsical but never twee... they tell such beautiful stories. I love stories.

I would like to see your 'then' and 'now' outfits side by side. Because I'm quite interested. And anally retentive.

  17. Your sketches are always a delight! Sorry to hear that it continues to be chilly in your part of the world, but you have summoned summer, so I am sure that it will arrive.

  20. Hurray for the sold painting, that dress, those black stockings and red shoes! Love Private Lounge in the Desert... I would so wear that outfit and sit on a couch like that in the Sahara. Cold weather is great and allows for layers that could never be worn in humidity. I am envious of your chilly environment. :-)
