Too bad the auto body shop near me was closed because that's where I would have preferred to take the first photo. I'm wearing thrifted button-fly jeans, $5, thrifted pretty black lace sleeveless top, thrifted Steve Madden army boots, and a leather tool-belt bag, a hand-me-over. Instead of a cigarette, I'm chewing on my seam ripper and that's a measuring tape in my tool belt. I embroidered eyes on the pant legs, black on the right, as shown, and a matching one in white on the other knee.
The second outfit is one I wore in March, a groovy thrifted tunic over a thrifted blouse, thigh-high socks with a silver lurex diamond pattern, black leather boots, magic loupe, and caramel-coloured jeggings. I hated this photo when I took it, I forget why, but now I don't mind.
Of course I had to show you the Karate Queen when I stumbled across this jpg during a desktop cleanup.
I'm linking up with Bella's Secondhand First at The Citizen Rosebud. See you there!
Nice to see a bit of grunge after all your glamour! You do it depressingly well. I'm loving the over knee socks. Yours seem to have stayed put better than mine, and I have more lumps at the knees to hold them up! :-)
ReplyDeleteHa ha - I like the painting. And haven't you got long legs?
ReplyDeleteOnly have eyes for you, doll! Hooked on you, babay! Columns bound for eternity. Or at least a little while. Love your chiaroscuro and the tension of foaming at the mouth vs. the regal side-eye, them's ultra-firm vibrations, yep. You're the best.
ReplyDeletebest handbag ever - even Vogoff is not showing them yet! Love your painting and you legs that are 5 miles long. xox
ReplyDeleteYou are so foxy and fabulous! I LOVE that first picture of you!
ReplyDeleteI adore that first picture - you could be in Vogue!
ReplyDeleteYou look so darned hot in that top picture, phwoar! xxxxx
ReplyDeleteAren't you the best actress and poser?
ReplyDeleteYour legs are model legs.
bisous
Suzanne
Damn, that first shot of you is brilliant - it reminds me of a few things, none of which I can remember at the moment, of course....love the "knee-eyes".
ReplyDeleteI think the Queen would have a much larger following if she was able to execute a drop-kick in public now and then. I know I would pay more attention to her. Your mind works in mysterious ways, and I like it ;)
First of all, hasn't Vancouver's road engineering department got artistic flair? I love what they've done with their orange tape.
ReplyDeleteAnd now you, dahling, giving elegance to your tough guy look merely with the cast of your eyes. Actually, you look more like a tough guy in the last photo with that stink-eye look. But I'm kind of worried about rabid deer in Canada. If that's real, I hope the Karate Queen is, too.
Your title and first image cracked me up! I can always count on you to post delightful and quirky things.
ReplyDeleteI may just link up with Bella too - gotta get to photographing ...
You are better than Coco Rocha! I love your badass photo wearing the toolbelt. Does a tool belt mean you are a rebel with a cause? Comox needs that karate queen to deal with the deer. We apparently have the largest urban deer population in the province. Fat, well fed, happy deer that saunter down main street and feed their babies in the middle of the road so traffic has to stop.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that tunic. Totally green with envy but even if I owned it in my size I would not look like Twiggy in it the way you do! Like Jack I really want to know how you get the socks to stay up. Double sided tape?
xoxo
That first photo totally reminds me of a Diesel jeans ad. Hot.
ReplyDeleteWow Melanie your painting is fantastic.......love the rabid deer.......karate kick...yes.
ReplyDeleteTool belt bag perfect and very handy.......
It took me a while to work out what the flying things were in the last pic......flying hooks. The boots and long socks look fabulous.
Love v
That first pic is so modelly - aren't you gorgeous? Love the tunic too, and your endless legs. The Queen does karate? I had no idea. It's an education, reading blogs! xxx
ReplyDeleteWow, that first pic is super hot!! That rabid deer tho!!!! The best!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI see. The knees see. It's a completely different perspective at that level. Just ask my dog. He is knee level and he just loves it down there. Melanie, I just love your art and your style and your long legs and your turnip head and I don't understand why you are not astoundingly famous. Because you should be. Rabid deer? Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI am in total agreement with Curtise re: your first photo. "Gorgeous and modelly." The second outfit photo is also spectacular. Your facial expression is priceless!
ReplyDeleteHello Melanie,
ReplyDeleteOne can only imagine and then wonder at the imagination and creative ideas that must be constantly running through your head. How we should love you to be a dinner guest!
However, on second thoughts, perhaps you could come equipped with rather more than a measuring tape in your tool belt handbag and do some repairs on our rather ancient plumbing? Even if you cannot stop the drips we could all gaze in wonder and awe at your outfit!
You have such a decadently individual style and we love you for it!
O, my WORD!
ReplyDeleteThat first pic is giving me the HORN!!!! Rawr!
XXX
What spectacular photography, and you really know how to strike a pose. I like the boyish look of the jeans and tool bag, rather preppy and casual. Great post! The over the knee socks take me back several years, they look very cool in your outfit!
ReplyDeleteFF
Gorgeous pics! tool belts and magical stay put over the knee socks too and I adore your painting x x x
ReplyDeleteYep! You are iconic Mel! An artist, a model, and a raw, beautiful person.
ReplyDeleteAs per usual, words fail me. I'd be like that too, if we met in person, all starstruck, I'd be a blithering fool.
And is it just me, seeing Christopher Gaze in that painting?
You really are the best!
cool grunge style, fabulous tools bag and jeans!, such a great pic!
ReplyDeleteyou're talented indeed, such a disturbing painting, love it!
And your last outfit is a great mixed prints work of art!, awesome!
besos
You ARE art, through and through. I loved the curve ball of the top two pics, then the clear-your-palate painting (which is amazing) followed by the colorful dessert.
ReplyDeleteI never, EVER get tired of your glorious expressiveness, visual and otherwise. XXXOOO
Very good pictures. Especially that first one. I looked at your blog together with my husband and he was quite impressed by you. He is more artistic than I am. I can see you are a good artist and I can appreciate a lot, but he has a better eye and understanding about art than I have. So... compliments for you.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
I really love both outfits! That first photos is fantastic! Love the leather tool belt bag and the fact that you have a seam ripper instead of a cigarette is just too cool!
