Naked people everywhere and men carrying trees

Remember how I said in the last post that amazing things happen when you wear amazing clothes? This is what I saw today...
This is what I was wearing...
This is what I saw yesterday...
This is what I was wearing...
Ah, it's a mad, mad, mad, mad world. I'm almost afraid to get dressed tomorrow. Maybe I'd better not put on anything and hop on my bicycle.

You might recall the kimono robe from our manhole-cover party. Or not -  things got slightly out of control. (Don't worry, Judith, I won't post those photos.) I'm using the brilliant Calvin and Hobbes kid suspenders from Bella of The Citizen Rosebud to hoist my skirt. Except for the shoes/socks and magic loupe O made me, everything is thrifted. Those shoes clop like horse hooves. Very satisfying.

The other outfit features my DIY rock star pants, in which, during their inaugural outing, I almost chatted with Paul Stanley, the KISS rock star, not the same-named New York designer of the fabulous vintage gown from Pao and her mum I wore in the previous post. Same names - spooky. And my DIY jacket.
My eyes are becoming more sensitive to eye shadow as the years go by, so instead of putting the colour directly on my lids, I have begun using it above the crease. The blue-green mini-brows were made with "Make Up For Ever" cream shadow from Sephora. The lipstick is MAC's Candy Yum Yum, a daily staple. The colours here are accurate, at least on this monitor. For the kimono manhole outfit, I painted a dime-sized dot of hot pink under my brows. Of course you can't see them - I have to stand under the fluorescent light for anything to show. Expect to see more eye colour experimentation.

According to Wikipedia, the World Naked Bike Ride is for a "cleaner, safer, body-positive" world. And those men are moving a styrofoam prop for a multi-million-dollar Jeep commercial in which a downtown block was transformed into a wild canyon with trees, boulders, gushing water, mist, and snowfall. Considering a majority of surveyed Canadians (not me) have identified Jeep as their "dream car," I can almost understand the expense. (No, I can't understand ever. This is madness.)

Because I missed Patti's Visible Monday at Not Dead Yet Style last time, I'm making up for it by joining twice this time, with this post and the previous one. Bwa-ha-ha. See you there.
Edit: I'm linking this to Sacramento's Share-in-Style: Gold at Mis Papelicos as well. Gold spangles, can't live without them.

Does your town have any wacky celebrations? Naked people on bikes? I have always thought that a town in a slump would do well by becoming the Knitting Capital of the World. It could erect a tacky sculpture of the The World's Biggest Knitting Needles at the town limits and host an Annual International Knit-Off with prizes for skill, speed, etc. The resultant products could be raffled or donated. Just an idea. Have you got any ideas?

*The days in this post refer to Friday and Saturday.

Rock star pants escape Space Bag!

Note to self: "Stay away from Ziploc's miraculous Space Bags when cleaning in winter in a springtime mood; snow will fall relentlessly as punishment and I'll only have silk, chiffon, and other women's cast-off, strapless prom dresses left in the closet." Thank goodness my rock star pants ran from the Bag and saved the day (I know, I said no more pants. I lied.) along with my freshly "laundered" DIY shirt (see previous post) for some double-whammy DIY action. Hold on to your hats.

Who knew that parking garage lighting could be so flattering? I'm going to hang around here all the time now and only look up.

The first time I wore these rock star pants Paul Stanley (of KISS) was smiling at me, here. Okay, so I didn't know who he was and I didn't actually know it was happening at the time either, but still... The next time I wore them I was inspired to make a video clip. Today is not over yet and who knows what will transpire? I feel the slow churning of DIY magic like the colossal turbines in the engine room of the Titanic (that would be before she sank) - the engine scene is one of my favourites in the James Cameron movie.

Wearing:
  • DIY low-rise rock star pants
  • DIY "I have nothing to wear" shirt, laundry-free (see previous post)
  • wide '70s leather belt
  • satin hot-pink blouse, thrifted, Nicole designer-something-or-other blah
  • thrifted Sesame Street Massacre coat
  • thrifted fuzzy psychedelic top hat
  • boots, retail
  • magic loupe, made special for me by O
I always jump when I wear these pants. I'm hooking this up to Patti's Visible Monday at Not Dead Yet Style for sure. I don't have much to say. I. Am. Still. Cleaning...

Rock star pants and woolly mammoth boots

Thrift-o-mania and DIY - the perfect storm. Sorry, Patti, the mood I'm in, you'll have to batten the hatches over at Visible Monday. See you there!

Highlights:

1. That sweater, I'm not sure if I've shown it to you before or not, but it was a perfectly good hideous white sweater which I fixed by stabbing holes in it, randomly tying on pieces of squiggy glitter-flecked white yarn, and stitching on a creature who is probably my best friend in that elusive seventh dimension. The sleeves were long so I cut holes in them to loop over my thumbs.

2. You've seen the rock star pants before, which debuted the day I almost met Paul Stanley from KISS. They used to be boring beige. And the Calvin Klein men's robe - floaty madness.

3. Woolly mammoth boots in maroon and black. Gaaaa! I spotted them at the thrift store unceremoniously piled in with all the Halloween costumes. I thought they'd be wildly too big because they are so mammoth-looking, but they fit just right. They said $50 on the bottom (leather and black suede, like new), yikes, but I decided, okay, I've had my eye on Demonia boots for a while and there's no harm asking for a discount. The cashier laughed and said, oh, that's not $50 - that's $15...! Notice the stacked platform soles, which makes them doubly monstrously high.

4. Jacquard jacket called The Mad Hatter. Nuff said.

Except for the tights, and sample sale blue skirt and midi cardigan (under the robe), everything in these outfits is thrifted. Green beret from fabulous Ariane at Style Sud-Est.

I made a video again. I. Can't. Help. Myself.

That's all. Hugs! Time to raid the kitchen cupboards for something sweet... Even if I'm not saying so, you guys are the best. Your positivity is astounding.
