Pant-theist: worshipper of pants

I wore this on Wednesday. Outta my way, I'm spewing uber-ness.

In fact, I was spewing such an incredible amount of uber-ness that I was raring to burst into the board meeting of my imaginary haute couture magazine in New York where I would fire the entire fashion editorial staff in favour of running my global empire single-handedly from the pool house at my mansion in Malibu. Without breaking a sweat, naturally.

Step. Spew. Step. Spew. Lively ubers in my wake.

These glasses frames with clear lenses were only $15. I shall need new glasses soon and thought these would be good testers of one of my favourite designs, the big Os. Sadly, I think my lenses will probably be too thick for these huge orbs, and I don't think my brows, forehead, and brain would benefit from the expansive prescriptive realm. Another style would probably better suit my face shape. Regardless, I shall wear these glasses again because I do like the style and they complement my chronic bitch face, yes.

Details
  • glasses with clear lenses, $15 from thrift shop
  • front zip big pants, vintage, thrifted. It took a lot of care to resuscitate these poor neglected darlings. Note how the pattern matches up so magnificently in the front (also in the back)
  • suede vest with 4 front snaps, vintage, thrifted when I went out with Sandra.
  • black boat-neck T with 3/4 sleeves, thrifted
  • D&G shoes, thrifted
  • magic loupe, O made it for me
And the hot pink delight below I also bought while thrifting with Sandra. I haven't worn it out yet and I'm not sure if I shall - the shorts are very, very short and I haven't worn shorts of any description for years, except for sports.

Oooh, another view, this time with the jacket which is looking rather haggard here because I didn't do it up correctly. When it's properly fastened, the jacket is form-fitting and the same length as the shorts creating the illusion that I forgot to put on my pants. So fun!(?)

Details:
  • hot pink boucle jacket and side-zip short shorts, vintage, thrifted, size L(!)
  • mustard tights, retail
  • sunglasses, vintage, thrifted
  • orange ruffled satin blouse, thrifted
  • big shoes, retail, big sale
And I liked my hair in this shot.

And finally, this is a closeup of the shoes I got in the big sale I mentioned in the last post, $37. They are poor quality but I love the style.

AND - Uh oh, I've been doing big art again as you can see in the background, oil pastel on paper. This particular piece is ongoing - I like it that way.

I hope you all have a swell weekend. Will you be wearing shorts?

  2. Those big ass bells are epic and if I saw you walking down the street in those I might just follow you home and beg you to be my friend:). Those short shorts on you are all kinds of sexy, paired with the orange top, you are summertime baby! If I had legs like yours I think I might wear shorts everyday:)

  4. Holy Pants Batman! Those are intense. I do think the frames are fun, but a little overwhelming for everyday wear.

The pink shorts suit is also really fun! I could actually see wearing something like that. It looks really amazing on you.

  6. Oh wow. Just...wow. That leather vest with the mondo wide pants is amazing.

No shorts for me, but I'm pretty sure I had something close to that ensemble in '72.

  12. I love that your backdrop is your own work Melanie, and you look amazing in these outfits, I think you should wear shorts often! They look really good with the yellow tights and those fantastic shoes. I can imagine the no pants look with the jacket fastened up would be really good too. xx

  18. Those glasses are so very you and you look like you're gonna kick some serious ass in those stompin' shoes.

I will not be wearing shorts - mostly because I do not own any short. I saw some lacy hot pants in a store yesterday. Maybe I should go back and get them?

  19. Firstly, incredible pants and specs, secondly, incredible shorts and pins! Look at your killer legs! You are spectacular.

Sadly I decided not to enter Vogoff this time as I realised to my chagrin I shouldn't allow myself to take photos sufficiently lewd and cheeky to be included - sadly my serious job means I have to watch my professional reputation in terms of what I can show of myself online, otherwise I'd have been so up for getting into a bikini, putting on a false beard, dragging a half naked man into the photographs and hamming it up with the best of them! I'm looking forward to seeing all the lovely ladies in their unVogue-ish poses in the next issue.

  20. I am mesmerized by your artwork!! so vibrant!!
Those palazzos of epicness are just too too COOL!!! LOVE them!!

i love the round glasses on you--maybe get a pair in a smaller size??

You are a vision of hotpink hotpant hotness!!! I love the outfit and those shoes are so cool!!

  21. The pants are almost like wallpaper, they cover so much territory! It's stunning how the legs match up - beautiful! The suede vest looks like what Curtise would call a jerkin, a word that I think you should throw around as often as possible.

Your painting makes the perfect background for your outfits, especially that hot pink-orange-yellow spewfest in the second outfit.

  22. Jerkin jerkin jerkin! (I got it off Vix actually!)
    And Giant Pants!
I feel better now! You look seriously awesome, Melanie, those trousers have me drooling, and your pink/orange/mustard no pants ensemble is a triumph. The shoes may be crap quality, but they have serious style, darling!
Not shorts weather here. Not got the pins for them either, so I'll just admire yours instead.
    Have a great weekend! xxxx

  23. Whoa! Those pants are real street sweepers! No wonder you need the big glasses to keep the dust out of your baby blues. Pink, orange, and mustard? I'm trippin' Man.

  29. You ARE Popart! And yes - I love your hair in that photo too. If I did'nt have a giant head - also with an ugly shape, I would have cut it short and dyed it blonde/grey/silver directly. This post is really full of lovely, perfect details ...

  30. Melanie, you have mastered the art of color! You're on my study list Especially love the wide leg paisley palazzo pants.

  31. I'm mesmerised by those trousers/pants. They are not unlike some of the uber fabulous pairs Vix has made recently. And as for the teeny tiny pink shorts, well, you absolutely have to go out in them and then report back on the attention they generate: simply spiffing.

  32. I am a worshipper of your pants, they are gigantic and splendiferous. Those glasses are rather fantastic too,I like the way they frame your bitch face. Which I'm also very fond of. Will be sending Mizz Bagg an email very soon xxx

  38. Okay, first off they are not too short. And they look fabulous with the tights and blouse and jacket and shoes and sunglasses. WEAR IT OUT! And those shoes would look marvelous with my Mom's dress, speaking of Mother's Day, by the way. The big pants are kick ass. eh, the big glasses. Fun, but nothing beats the big bells. 43. What's not to love about a suit that makes one look like one forgot the bottoms? The top half's so cool that the others would never notice one's missing pants, or something like that. LOL. Great style should make one (and everyone) smile really, really wide.

  44. Those pants are a THING of GREATNESS. I may not be an often commenter, but your blog, and your drawings, are Glory. And oh how we love some Gloriousness! xo

AND THEN... THEN... OH FARK, THE SHORTS WITH THE TIGHTS AND THE TOP AND THE SHOES... AND THEN, AND THEN! IT'S A FRICKIN SUIT.

i'm fainting. and weeping. have i had a stroke? quite possibly. stop it. i can't cope.
