HUGS & a Grand THANK YOU to
for your ridiculously wonderful feature on me!!!!!
You are the most generous, gorgeous, styling person!!! Your approbation has made me silly.
I continue to look to you for inspiration!!! Merci!
I have been bizzy, bizzy these past days, and will be throughout March, but I took this photo of my outing outfit the other day as backup... (always have a Plan B, C, D...)
I have had this sweet but plain dress for a long time and I do things to it - all legal of course - to add some oomph. Today I added this:
I have had this English hand-made corset, with boning and satin, for years but didn't start wearing it until Christmas Day(!), after I sewed the gaarters (fending off weirdo word-seekers) up under the hem. Even though I have kept the laces loose, it is still a blugger to hook and unhook the metal bits on the front - once you're in this baby, you fight to get out! I added the poyles to boost the good/bad contrast. I like to flash my back in this. These heels really click so you can hear me coming! (Terri, this is the piece I was telling you about before.)
I hope all of you have a great weekend. Talking about style, I just really want to curl up in a uni-fleece-body-tube-with-a-hood today. Please don't hurt me for saying so... : )
Yikes, the corset is amazing. I love it with the booties, and the yellow tights. No predictable shift dress for you, mon amie!
ReplyDeleteSometimes, Patti, I think it would be fun to swap styles - put you this corset and me in your fabulous flowy outfits...Et, merci!
DeleteOne piece Snugglies can be stylish too! I have a purple one. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat way to personalized this dress
Yes, I knew they had a name! Right now, all I would be able to handle is a snuggie in black or slate grey. Thanks for the feedback.
DeleteI love this outfit. The corset makes the dress edgy, the pearls ladylike, and the touches of yellow make for a subtle palette. I loved Arianne's feature on you and had had no idea about the street style photography. I am continually impressed!
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful photo of a corset on your blog, but it is laced, REALLY laced. How did they do it? I love those old Dior gowns with waspies. Have you seen Audrey Hepburn's waist in Roman Holiday? No? You probably missed it because it was so tiny!
DeleteI love, love the velvet corset, ahhhhhhhhhh it does gives a punch to the whole outfit.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Madeleine!!!
I think this outfit would look much better with an insect necklace!
DeleteHi Mélanie!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome! I am so pleased that other bloggers found you
You give another meaning to a simple dress, love the corset, the yellow tights!
You have so many amazing pieces in your closet, you make me want to mix unusual pieces
Very well done!
Now you should get rid of the word verification!
Love.
Arianexxxxxx
Hi Ariane,
DeleteI hope your good karma is giving you a wonderful weekend!
I didn't realize I had word verification. It's so nasty and I must get rid of it quickly. Thanks!!
Grand Hugs, M
Update: Okay, I think I've shut it off! Yay.
DeleteThat corset is stunning.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you. What a piece it is indeed. I'm happy to finally be wearing it.
DeleteYou've got great style indeed, I got here thanks to Style Montreal Sud-Est and I am staying :)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend!
Hello, Mrs. D,
DeleteI am so happy you are staying...Only if I can stay at your place too. I'll be sure to make up the guest room, put fresh flowers by the bed and a wonderful Gothic novel on the bed stand.
Hope you have a great weekend too!
How fab! Glad to see that Vancouver girls are still struttin' their stuff. I used to live in Vancouver, but now live in the loveliest town in England. I have been going through a strange patch where nothing I put together looks right. Does this ever happen to you?
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Rosemary from www.foreveronthecatwalkoflife.com
Hello, Rosemary,
DeleteI saw you in the Downtown clip. How fun! I DO go through strange patches. Who knows where they come from - at least I have my favourite bits of wardrobe to tide me through. For me, a new pair of outrageous thrifted shoes often helps - I don't feel guilty for buying them and they add enough pinch to my blahs to get me back on my feet, so to speak. I hope you get your style mojo back ASAP!!!
Thanks Melanie. Hope my style fairy pays a visit soon!
DeleteThat looks amazing, Melanie - the corset and the yellow tights take that dress in a whole other direction. I love it!
ReplyDeleteBtw, I really CANNOT imagine you in any sort of fleece garment. I believe that to be the fabric of the devil! xxx
Ha! Yes, fleece is most DEFINITELY the work of the devil - and Vancouver sometimes seems to be our country's largest coven!
DeleteFabulous outfit...the added corset gives such a feeling of couture...beautiful,imaginative and so,so stylish!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that such big belt with laces, essentially, is so versatile - couture, goth, tarty, or a combo. Thanks for your comment.
DeleteAll the accolades on Sud-Est are well deserved, plus it was fun to learn a little more about you! Like the Sunday school/purse observation. I can relate. Being somewhat wide-of-waist, I adore corsets but seldom have the courage. Thanks for a fresh view.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Jean

Thank you, Jean. I can't believe you would think you're wide of waist, but, ha, ha, that's why I bought this corset years ago, my clothes were feeling snug. Of course, I never wore it. Now I see it as a big belt that laces, a staple in any woman's closet...? When I wear a coat or cardigan over it, nobody else knows it's there. Delicious feeling.
